The Tombstone Inn's Memorial Fishing Tournament is a heartwarming event dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Christian Manganiello. Chris was known for his love of fishing; he often taught his friends and family how to fish and how to respect all life on land and in water. He had a deep connection to the community. Thus, Chris' memory is honored through this annual community gathering.
The tournament brings together friends, family, and fishing enthusiasts who share not only a passion for the sport, but also an appreciation for the positive impact Chris had on those around him. Participants compete in a friendly atmosphere, casting their lines into the water that Chris himself cherished. Beyond just a competition, the event fosters camaraderie and offers an opportunity for story telling and remembrance. Proceeds from the tournament will support Pancreatic Cancer research, ensuring that his spirit continues to contribute positively to the community he loved.

The request is to practice catch and release practice for the Fishing For A Cure
tournament. We encourage all to fish with ethical and high standards regarding
measurement. At registration we will be handing an ID tag in Ziploc bags tag to photo
with the fish to be measured. Place ID tag in the picture next to Fish or on its center so
it can be seen. The specifics are documented below, any questions on measurement
can be discussed with the contact list on web page. If the scale cannot be read, then
we will disqualify the picture and catch. Please save Walleye, Small Mouth, and
Channel Cat pictures for check in.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Use a measuring tool: A bump board is ideal, but a ruler or tape measure can
also be used.
2. Lay the fish flat: Place the fish on its side on the measuring tool.
3. Close the mouth: Ensure the fish's mouth is tightly closed.
4. Pin the tail: Gently pinch the tail lobes together.
5. Overlay the ID card for the tournament in center of the fish that states Name,
Date and Time to ensure accurate accounting, ID Cards will be available at
check in before tournament.
6. Measure straight: Measure the longest straight-line distance from the tip of the
nose or jaw to the tip of the tail, being careful not to measure along any curves.
7. Record the measurement: Note the length to the nearest 1/8th of an inch.
To accurately measure a smallmouth fish for length, place the fish on a flat, straight
surface like a bump board or ruler. Ensure the fish's mouth is closed and the tail is
pressed together, then measure the straight-line distance from the tip of the nose or jaw to the tip of the tail.
